Description
n-Hexane is a hydrocarbon solvent composed of six carbon atoms in a straight chain (C₆H₁₄). It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a mild gasoline-like odor, commonly used in laboratories and industrial applications as a non-polar solvent. Due to its low boiling point and high volatility, it is especially useful in the extraction of oils and fats and in chromatographic analysis. It is also used in the production of adhesives, coatings, and rubber products.
