Description:
TCBD Agar (Tergitol-7 and Crystal Violet Desoxycholate Agar) is a selective culture medium used for the isolation and differentiation of coliform bacteria and Enterobacteriaceae, particularly in water, dairy, and food samples. It inhibits the growth of Gram-positive organisms while allowing Gram-negative bacteria to grow, making it ideal for microbiological analysis. This medium contains bile salts, crystal violet, and tergitol-7 to enhance selectivity, and it is widely used in quality control laboratories and research institutions.
